SmartLipo FAQ
What is SmartLipo?
SmartLipo is the newest technological advancement in the area of liposuction. It utilizes laser energy to selectively remove surplus fat from different parts of the body. Relatively pain free and minimally invasive, SmartLipo can provide more enhanced results than any other liposuction technique available.
How does SmartLipo Work?
During the procedure, the surgeon inserts a long vacant tube called a cannula into the targeted fat pockets. The laser energy dispersed through the cannula liquefies the fat, which is aspirated out. The removal of fat cells is accompanied by collagen shrinkage.
What body parts can be treated with SmartLipo?
FDA-approved SmartLipo procedure is safe for removing unwanted fat cells from various body parts including face, tummy, lower back, neck/jaw line, breasts, thighs, arms, hips, knees and buttocks.
What are the Advantages of SmartLipo?
SmartLipo treatment has some advantages over traditional liposuction methods:
- Requires only a very small surgical incision
- In most cases, a single treatment is all that is required
- Most of the time, new fat is not created after the procedure
- Normal activities can be resumed within just a few days of the procedure being performed
- Minimal pain and discomfort
- Quick recovery
What type of anesthesia is administered?
Local anesthesia is usually administered for this procedure, which enhances client safety and significantly reduces the overall risks.
Are there any risks involved with SmartLipo?
As with all surgical procedures, certain complications and risks may arise during the SmartLipo procedure. Patients may experience a small degree of blood loss, swelling and bruising, but these discomforts are minimal. When compared to traditional liposuction methods, SmartLipo laser liposuction offers a greater level of safety and quicker recovery.
Do I have to stay in the hospital?
No. SmartLipo is performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia. Therefore, you don’t have to stay in the hospital.
How long does SmartLipo treatment take? How many treatments are required?
For most patients, one treatment per body area is all that is required. The surgery itself takes an average of 2–3 hours per session, but this depends on the treatment area and the degree of complexity.
What is the recovery period following SmartLipo liposuction?
As it carries fewer risks and side effects, the recovery time is also minimal. However, it is important to follow the advice of the surgeon regarding recovery and recuperation to get the desired results.
How effective is the SmartLipo procedure?
SmartLipo results may vary from patient to patient. The initial results can be seen within 2 weeks and final results with optimal skin tightening effect within 6 months. The overall result depends on factors such as the specific body area and the size of the area(s) being treated.

Testimonials
Like many others, I had heard about the groundbreaking SmartLipo treatment and was considering getting some work done on my flabby upper arms. However, I was clueless as I didn’t know about any doctors who offered SmartLipo in my area – New York City. My friend told me about the SmartLipo™ Plastic Surgeon Directory and I decided to give it a try. I must say that I am grateful to the brilliant minds behind this directory for putting me in contact with Dr. Christopher T. Chia of Park Avenue Smart Lipo™.
Another thing, if I had any worries at all about the procedure, all of them were quelled because of the wealth of information that was available on the site and which helped me make up my mind. About the plastic surgeon - he seemed to work a kind of magic with his hands. He not only slimmed down my arms with SmartLipo but also gave them a smooth, beautiful shape.
